2022 Year Review

It’s that time again, 2022 has drawn to a close. For us as a brand it provided some of the best travel experiences yet, and allowed us to tick off a number of bucket list items.

With that in mind, it is important for us to reflect upon the year and share with you some of the key numbers and what we think of our own content from the last twelve months.

You can use the list below to jump to a specific section, or you can read the entire post (it’s your choice).

Most Viewed Post

Our most viewed post of 2022 was one of my favourite posts and one that I am very proud of, that post is “EUROCONTROL: Ryanair Presentation” with 64 views.

Least Viewed Post

This post did not perform as well as I expected, however, I have found that over the course of writing posts that the ones you think will do really well are often the ones that perform poorly.

With that in mind the least viewed post was “Trenitalia Rome to Bologna” with just 4 views.

Favourite Post to Write

This for me is a hard one, as most of my posts have been fun to write, however, looking through them again one just beats them all.

That post was “My 1st United Flight in 11 years”

For me this post brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. One of my earliest travel memories is flying with United from Glasgow to Newark on a Boeing 757-200.

Therefore, writing about this journey from Newark on a Boeing 757-200 reminded me of my childhood and allowed me to reflect on how far I have came as a person since 2010.

Least Favourite Post to Write

Personally, I do not post content that I do not like reading back to myself, however, one post in particular I did not enjoy writing as much as my other content.

That post was my Lufthansa Business Class review.

I think it is a good post that covers everything I wanted to talk about, however, I did not feel comfortable writing this post as I was constantly trying to sound like myself and not come across as pretentious or ungrateful for the experience of flying Business Class.

Best Place I Visited

This title was going to be given to Philadelphia, however, having completed my last trip of the year just before Christmas I have decided to change my answer.

My favourite destination of 2022 is Malaga in Spain.

Malaga was my favourite for a number of reasons. Firstly everybody I encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful with any challenges or questions I had. Secondly, it is a good budget destination so I did not have to spend as much money as I expected whilst visiting.

Finally, Malaga gave me a chance to disconnect ad recharge myself mentally after a challenging few months. I know it sounds cliché, but it gave me a chance to think about some aspects of life and allowed me to reflect on how much I have changed as a person throughout the year.

Best Flight of 2022

This is a challenge, but I think my answer might surprise you. My favourite flight of 2022 was with British Airways CityFlyer from London City to Glasgow back in September.

Best Train Journey of 2022

This is an easy one, it’s LNE… just kidding that’s nobodies favourite. My actual favourite train journey of 2022 was Amtrak’s Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle back in April.

For me this journey was my first long distance train journey and made me realise just how much I am capable of achieving if I put my mind to it. The whole experience was made even better by the on train staff, mainly Jimmy the room attendant who was always happy to help or just have a chat with.
