Hotel Slon Ljubljana Review

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Ljubljana than I can recommend Best Western’s Hotel Slon in the city centre. This hotel is located in an ideal location, just five minutes away from the train and bus station.

Although, the hotel is in a pedestrianised area of the city taxi’s can still take you to the hotel, just have proof of booking to show if asked.

Here is some important information about my stay;

  • Number of nights stayed – 3 nights (13/01/23-16/01/23)
  • Price – €227.45
  • Date Booked – 27/12/22
  • Good loyalty programme? – Yes, Best Western Rapid rewards is one of the best hotel reward schemes.

How to Reach the Hotel

Due to my late arrival time at Ljubljana airport I decided to arrange a taxi to the hotel. Thankfully I was able to arrange this with the hotel in advance to ensure it was ready for me when I landed.

The taxi driver was waiting with a sign in arrivals and drove me to the hotel. This ride cost me €33, approximately the average cost amongst taxi firms for this ride.

Upon arrival at the hotel I was greeted at reception by two members of staff. After the usual formalities required when checking in to a hotel I was able to go to my room on the fifth floor.

What are the rooms like?

For this stay I selected an economy single room as I was travelling myself – however, the room is designed to sleep two people if required.

In the room is a comfortable double bed, although this hotel is unique in the fact that each room comes with a stuffed elephant that you can purchase.

Each room also comes with enough baggage storage and some hangers for your jacket or other clothing items (you can request more from the reception if required). Furthermore each room comes with a safe for anything you may need to store – let me know if you have ever used one of these as I think they are pointless.

As for the bathroom you will find it equipped with the basics you will need, including but not limited to, a shower, toilet, sink & hair dryer.

Bathroom is economy standard room

Following the pandemic Best Western have changed their policies on cleaning and changing towels. This will only be done every two days, and towels will only be replaced if you leave them on the floor.

This for me is the best way to do this as hotels are notorious for cleaning towels that can easily be used again.

Does the room come with drinks and snacks?

Yes, but they come at a price. I have included the price list below for you to look at what is available. There is a dedicated member of staff who will keep notes of what you have taken to ensure you are charged the correct price.

Minibar menu and price

Although snacks and drinks are available my advice is to walk to the SPAR store just outside the hotel and buy what you want at a much lower price.

Check-out Experience

Checking out was a very easy and straightforward experience. When checking out I had to pay for my transfer from the airport as well as the €9.39 city tax that was charged (€3.13 per night).

You will also be provided with a paper copy of your invoice. The staff will also ask if you need help with onward travel connections, including a taxi to the airport or help getting to the bus or train station.

Would I recommend this Hotel?

Yes, I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Ljubljana and needs somewhere close the the centre to stay.

The staff were fantastic and were able to help with any issues you have, and will happily recommend places to visit.

It’s location is ideal and rooms can be found for a good price if you book in advance. The rooms and hotel in general was kept clean at all times.
