2024 Year In Review

2024 was another busy year for me in terms of content creation, news updates and travel.

Covering everything from new airlines to Scotland right down to a new bus service I have tried my best to vary the content on this website (not that there was much this year so sorry about that!)

Below is a small round-up of highlights from 2024, as well as outlining some plans, thoughts and questions for the year ahead.

Website Viewing Figures

At the start of this year I set a target for 5,000 views on this website across the year, based on previous years growth figures and a bit of blind luck.

It unfortunately falls to me to share that, despite what some people may say, that target was well and truly…smashed!

Most Read Post of the Year

The most read post of the year, actually, came out last year. The post in question is included below for those of you who may have missed it.

I have also included a table of the post’s published last year and their views, if you are interested in reading one then clicking on it will take you too it.

Although some may view that as a negative, for me it provides the opportunity to understand what people want me to focus on.

Flights and Airport’s Visited in 2024

My joint most visited airports in 2024 were Glasgow and Prague airports, both with 6 flights involving them.

Map of Europe with lines showing what air routes I flew in 2024.

For those who are wondering, I travelled through two new airports this year, those being Manchester (T1) and Marseille.

Two new airlines were crossed off my list, albeit one was a fluke of scheduling. The two new airlines were WIZZ Air and Avion Express, the latter of which was covering for WIZZ Air on my Glasgow to Budapest flight.

  • Manchester to Rome Fiumicino (Jet2)
  • Rome Fiumicino to Prague (WIZZ Air)
  • Prague to Glasgow (Jet2)
  • Glasgow to Rome Fiumicino (Jet2)
  • Rome Fiumicino to Prague (Ryanair)
  • Prague to Marseille (Ryanair)
  • Marseille to Glasgow (easyJet)
  • Glasgow to Budapest (Avion Express)
  • Budapest to Prague (Ryanair)
  • Prague to Edinburgh (Ryanair)
  • Glasgow to London Heathrow (British Airways)
  • London Heathrow to Glasgow (British Airways)

Plans for 2025

In terms of plans for content on this website for the next year I plan to continue the reviews whenever possible, as well as writing any news and opinion stories I feel are worth covering.

I did a trial of a new style of information in the shape of a mock departure board focusing on a specific week from Glasgow Airport, this has been received well and it is something I will continue this year. With regards to expanding it to other airports, that remains a challenge, especially Edinburgh or Manchester etc, where there are significantly more flights and collating the information takes a considerable chunk of time.

Three things I do want your honest feedback on are below, feel free to reply to this post as a comment or on social media.

  1. Donations– a contentious issue, but I currently pay for this website entirely out of my own pocket, so asking for donations is a way to partly offset that cost, I can also understand the other side of the debate in that it can be seen as scrounging for money to post a lot of information that is either in the public domain or is an opinion that nobody asked for.
  2. Affiliate Marketing – I did try this before, and, simply put it was a shambles. AM would allow me to earn a small commission if you booked via my link to a website, but I worry that such a thing would be seen as selling out to an airline, and I worry about the risk to the small reputation this brand has if I was to start plugging affiliate links into news stories.
  3. Statistics Presentations – These were something I did for the first six months of this year, but I stopped them as making them for 4 airports was a considerable task. Should I bring them back, but cut the airports down to just 1 or 2?

A Thank You

Without wanting to sound a bit cringe or cliché, a thank you is due to everybody who reads, shares and follows my content.

To those who do that – thank you!

To those who read it and then comment saying it was crap – thanks for the view!

I believe that with the changes I have made over this year, including pulling back from posting on forums, this year should be another consistent year views wise.
