Jet2.com and Jet2 Holidays are the latest UK airline to enter the Egypitan market from Scotland, following TUI and easyJet who have expanded their services signifcantly over the last couple of years.

This announcement marks the first time the airline has flown to Egypt since March 1st 2011, when the previous services from Leeds, Manchester, East Midlands and Newcastle were cancelled by the airline following “political unrest” (source: Jet2 suspends flights to Egypt: Tourists ‘furious’).
In an interesting development for Edinburgh Airport, this marks the first time the airport has had a service to Sharm El Sheikh since 2015, when TUI operated a weekly service, since TUI consolodated its operations in Glasgow it has operated some sort of service to Sharm El Sheikh since 2022.
