Yes the title is correct, although not telling the full story! I recently had to change my trip due to the NATS ATC failure in the UK.

As a result I would no longer be visiting Bulgaria but this gave me the chance to visit Denmark instead. I found a cheap day return from Prague to Copenhagen and decided to visit my twenty first country.

My outbound flight was operated by Norwegian Air Sweden – so yes, I was flying the Swedish subsidiary of a Norwegian Airline between two countries, neither of which were Norway or Sweden – even more confusingly my return flight was operated by the Polish subsidiary of an Irish Airline.

With that in mind, here are the flight details and price for this flight.

Flight Details

Flight Date – 14/09/2023

Airline – Norwegian Air Sweden

Flight Number – D8 3581

Aircraft Type – Boeing 737-800

Seat – 23D

Price – £

Prague Airport Experience

This was my 35th flight through Prague Airport – and like the other 34 this was a very smooth experience.

I arrived at the airport by Bus 119 from the metro station Nádraží Veleslavín. This bus connects with Line A of the Prague Metro and runs on average every 10 minutes (unlike some other airport bus links *Glasgow*).

For this flight I was using Terminal Two which handles all flights to countries within the Schengen area. Despite regularly using Prague Airport this was only my second time departing from this terminal (my other being to Milan with Ryanair in 2019).

Check-in for most airlines can be done at automated kiosks like the one pictured below. I used this to add my Norwegian account number and get a boarding pass.

The biggest difference between the two terminals in Prague is security. In T1 security is located at every departure gate due to the need for Czech Border checks for leaving the Schengen Area. In T2 it is a centralised security search area located next to check-in.

I was through security in less than four minutes and I made my way to gate D2.

Norwegian Air Sweden 737 taxing at Prague Airport

The aircraft was arriving from Copenhagen and arrived in Prague at 0758 (approximately 12 minutes ahead of schedule). As you can see from the image above this aircraft had a special livery on the tail.

This livery is the “Anne-Cath Vestly” livery which was created to remember the Norwegian Children’s Author who passed away in December 2008. This particular Boeing 737 was registration SE-RXC. This aircraft was delivered to Garuda Indonesia in April 2011 before being stored between August 2021 and October 2022. Norwegian Air Sweden received the aircraft in October 2022 which is equipped with 189 economy seats.

Norwegian Air Sweden On Board Experience

Norwegian allegedly use boarding groups to board their lights, however, this was not followed for this flight, with all passengers being invited to board the aircraft at the same time.

I did not pay for a seat on this flight due to the high cost (£14.90) meaning I got to play my favourite travel related game – Random Seat Roulette (RSR). To play this game you do not select a seat and allow the computer to select one for you.

This game of RSR worked in my favour and gave me an aisle seat for this flight. This was fine for me as I am not bothered as to what seat I get on a flight of less than two hours.

When I boarded the aircraft the cabin crew greeted every passenger and were able to assist anybody who could not find their seats or had any issues

I quickly found my seat and placed my bag under the seat in front of me. In every seat you will find a literature pocket that has the safety card and an inflight magazine.

Norwegian 737 Safety Card

Under the tray table there is a fabric pocket that allows you to store your own personal belongings during the flight. Legroom was ideal for a flight if this length and I was able to settle in for this flight and get comfortable.

The safety card mentioned that Wi-Fi should have been available on this flight, however, the equipment was not equipped to this particular aircraft meaning that no Wi-Fi was available for this flight.

Due to the length of this flight Norwegian only offer snacks and drinks for sale during the flight, if you were on a flight over 135 minutes you would be able to pre-order hot meals.

Flightradar24 playback of flight route

We reached a cruising altitude of 40,000ft and stayed their for approximately ten minutes before beginning our decent into Copenhagen.

Our landing in Copenhagen was unusual when I compare it to other flights I have taken. Upon landing the pilot applied the brakes before taking them off and applying power for a second or so. They then applied the brakes again until we slowed down and exited the runway.

Arrivals Experience In Copenhagen

We were able to deplane via the front and rear door of the aircraft. When we were in the terminal it was a five minute walk to exit into baggage reclaim. After getting out of baggage reclaim you will find yourself in a very busy arrivals hall.

To get into the city centre follow the signs to either the metro or train. I personally opted to take the metro and could easily buy my ticket from the machines located next to the platforms.

Overall Thoughts

I personally believe that Norwegian delivered excellent value for money on this flight.

We departed on time and arrived early, the crew were friendly and approachable and both airports were easily accessible. I flew back to Prague with Ryanair (operated by BUZZ) and actually paid more for that flight while receiving the same service and a delayed flight.

I would have no issues with using Norwegian again and I am currently looking at flying them between Prague and Oslo at some point in the future.
