WIZZ Air Makes Changes to Glasgow Flights

WIZZ Air have made changes to their Bucharest and Budapest flights from Glasgow. Find out the full details in our post.

Glasgow’s newest airline is making changes to its flights between Glasgow and Hungary and Romania as part of wider changes across its network.

As part of a seasonal adjustment of flights across their network WIZZ Air will change the times of their flights from Scotland’s largest city.

Below is a full breakdown of the changes for both routes.

Bucharest (OTP)

Flights to the Romanian capital will continue to operate every Wednesday and Sunday until June 16th.

Flight times on Wednesday are as follows:

  • W43013 departs Bucharest at 1555 and arrives in Glasgow at 1800
  • W43014 departs Glasgow at 1835 and arrives in Bucharest at 0015

Flight times on Sundays are as follows:

  • W43013 departs Bucharest at 0655 and arrives in Glasgow at 0900
  • W43014 departs Glasgow at 0935 and arrives in Bucharest at 1515

Budapest (BUD)

Flights to the Hungarian capital will continue to operate every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the summer. From June 20th an additional weekly flight has been announced operating every Thursday.

Flight times on Tuesday are as follows:

  • W622223 departs Budapest at 1505 and arrives in Glasgow at 1715 until 11th June.
  • W622224 departs Glasgow at 1750 and arrives in Budapest at 2150 until 11th June.
  • W622223 departs Budapest at 1605 and arrives in Glasgow at 1815 from 18th June
  • W622224 departs Glasgow at 1850 and arrives in Budapest at 2250 from 18th June.

Flight times on Thursdays are as follows:

  • W622223 departs Budapest at 0500 and arrives in Glasgow at 0710
  • W622224 departs Glasgow at 0800 and arrives in Budapest at 1200

Flight times on Saturdays are as follows:

  • W622223 departs Budapest at 1520 and arrives in Glasgow at 1730
  • W622224 departs Glasgow at 1805 and arrives in Budapest at 2205

Some Other Useful Information

Both of these routes were previously operated by WIZZ from Edinburgh Airport before transferring to Glasgow in November 2023.

Before this transfer Bucharest had not been served from Glasgow since the start of the pandemic in 2020, when the now insolvent Blue Air provided the service.

WIZZ Air used to provide a 2x week flight from Glasgow to Budapest, however, this was suspended during the Covid pandemic as WIZZ Air transferred services to Edinburgh at the end of 2019.

As a result WIZZ Air will operate the following routes from Scotland in Summer 2024:

  • Aberdeen to Gdansk (up to 4x week)
  • Glasgow to Bucharest (2x week) – until June 16th
  • Glasgow to Budapest (3x week) – 2x week until June 18th
