Widerøe Expands Summer 2027 Capacity from Aberdeen

Widerøe will increase capacity next summer on its route to Stavanger, partly offsetting the capacity lost from SAS who are ending their route at the end of October 2026.

Aberdeen remains the only UK airport served by Widerøe, with the airline operating two routes, Bergen and Stavanger. Following SAS withdrawing from Aberdeen at the end of October 2026 Widerøe becomes the only airline operating flights to Stavanger from Aberdeen.

An overview of capacity per route is outlined below using a sample week from each month to illustrate an overall picture.

Despite a significant uplift in capacity from Widerøe this does not fully replace the capacity taken out of Aberdeen by SAS, but instead it seems the airline is only adding capacity they realistically believe they can fill.

Furthermore, SAS’s route from Copenhagen has not yet been taken up by another airline, and given the size of the market it seems unlikely Norwegian or another carrier will enter this market, SAS does maintain its Copenhagen-Edinburgh route.
